Art Week Des Moines is an active engagement of the arts community in the city. Coming back in its eighth year, Art Week 2022 is bigger and more energetic than ever under the new organizational leadership of Group Creative Services.
The branding for this year needed to reflect that.
Using coding as a creative tool, the branding elements are generated dynamically from an algorithm Alex Braidwood wrote for this specific purpose. Each time the code runs, or each time the page loads, new typographic compositions are created from a collection of fonts from a range of diverse designers. Behind the typography, a series of nodes and network connections are drawn to represent the connections made during art week events. The number of these nodes increases each day as Art Week nears, representing the expanding network of the Des Moines art community.
