Description

A formal experiment with typographic anatomy, hand-drawn form creation, and translation for form from sketchbook to digital. Students drew abstract forms and compositions then selected two anatomical elements of typography to develop the form studies digital.

Hand-drawn sketches on the left, digital recreation using only isolated typography anatomy by creating clipping masks so only the featured anatomy is displayed.

Project Goals
  • Continue working with typographic anatomy by focusing on each anatomical element’s form and construction
  • Design a series of compositions using only the forms of the different anatomical elements
  • Utilize a sketch process that starts on paper then continues in the software
